What we do with your details, in plain English.

Who we are

This site belongs to Contoir WS Limited, trading as Comptoir Café & Wine, 21–22 Weighhouse Street, Mayfair, London W1K 5LU.

Contoir WS Limited is responsible for the details you give us here: in law, it is the data controller. The company is registered in England and Wales, number 10432335, and its registered office is 21–22 Weighhouse Street, London W1K 5LY.

For anything about your details, write to info@comptoircw.co.uk.

What we collect, and why

Only what you choose to give us, and a little about how the site is used if you let us.

  • When you send an enquiry about the event space or a private tasting, we use the details you give us in the form to reply and to plan the evening with you.
  • When you ask us to reserve a bottle or a case for collection, we use the details you give us to set it aside and to get in touch about collecting it.
  • When you book a table, you do it on SevenRooms. They collect your booking details under their own privacy notice, which you will see there, and share them with us so we can look after you on the day.
  • When you join our list, you do it on SevenRooms too, so your email address goes to them and to us.
  • If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics tells us, without naming anyone, which pages are read and which buttons are pressed. If you decline, it does not run.

Our reasons in law

Under UK data protection law we need a lawful reason for each use of your details.

  • Enquiries and collections: it is needed to answer you and, where you go ahead, to do what you asked. It is also in our interest to run the business well.
  • Analytics: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Keeping the site secure and working: our legitimate interest in doing so.

Who sees your details

Only the people who help us run the site and look after you. We do not sell your details.

  • SevenRooms, for bookings and our guest list.
  • Google, for analytics, if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Resend, which sends the emails from our forms, and Microsoft, which holds our inboxes.
  • Netlify, which hosts this site.

Some of these services are based outside the UK. Where they are, they must protect your details to a standard UK law accepts.

How long we keep them

Only as long as we need to. Enquiries are kept while we are dealing with them and for a reasonable time after, in case you come back to us. We will confirm the exact periods here.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • show you the details we hold about you
  • correct anything that is wrong
  • delete your details, or limit what we do with them
  • send you your details in a form you can reuse
  • stop using your details where we rely on our own interest, or on your consent

Write to info@comptoircw.co.uk and we will answer within a month. If you are not happy with the answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

There is a separate page about cookies, and a way to change your choice at any time.

Changes

If we change how we use your details, we will change this page and say so here.
